Indiana’s Senior Associate Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Ken Sauer, will testify at a special Congressional hearing at noon (EDT) today, as an expert from the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit.
Seven states –Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio — form the collaborative, which is dedicated to “maximizing ways service members can translate their military training and experience into college credit,” said Sauer said.
The Congressional hearing will focus on “Keeping College Within Reach: Supporting Higher Education Opportunities for America’s Servicemembers and Veterans.”
“We want to congratulate our friends at the Indiana Commission for Higher Education as they are recognized as leaders in this effort,” said Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth, director of the Military Family Research Institute. “The Multi-State Collaborate has been a very important effort for all military and veteran students seeking higher education opportunities in these states.”
MFRI, through its education initiative, helped to support the creation of the Collaborative, and is continuing its commitment to address common challenges for student service members and veterans in Indiana.
The testimony is available for viewing online.
