Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management will feature wounded Army veteran J. R. Martinez as keynote speaker for its 12th annual Leadership Speakers Series.
Martinez, 29, deployed to Iraq in 2003 and less than a month later suffered injuries that nearly took his life. His Humvee hit a land mine and he was trapped inside, suffering smoke inhalation and burns over more than 40 percent of his body, and spent 34 months recovering at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He has been named 2012 Disabled Veteran of the Year.
