An interview with Martina Sternberg, assistant director at the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University (MFRI), will be featured on Lafayette's "Voice for Vets," a radio segment that airs each Tuesday on WBPE-FM (BoB FM).
Scheduled to air at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 28, Sternberg's interview includes information about upcoming MFRI events, including Battlemind to Home III Symposium, which takes place Sept. 26-27 in Indianapolis, as well at the Stand Down, which takes place in Lafayette.
"For the second year, MFRI has partnered with the VA and Department of Labor to host Battlemind to Home," said Sternberg. "The goal of the symposium is to reduce community reintegration barriers for returning service members and their families. We want to do this by increasing the community's awareness about the challenges that they face, and help increase supports available from a holistic and collaborative perspective.
The interview also offers details about the Stand Down, which is designed to offer support and resources to at-risk veterans and their families. It will be held Nov. 10 at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.
At last year's inaugural Stand Down more than 100 community organizations partnered to offer services to more than 250 veterans.
