MFRI helps to fund veterans' memorial

The Indiana University Kokomo Student Veterans Organization (SVO) has dedicated a memorial that honors the patriotism and sacrifices of service members and veterans.

Purchased with help from a 2010 grant from Operation Diploma, MFRI’s post-secondary education initiative, the memorial bears the IU and Purdue logos. Purdue’s College of Technology at Kokomo is one of 10 such locations around Indiana. It is located on the campus of Indiana University Kokomo, and the IU Kokomo SVO welcomes College of Technology students.

The memorial reads: “Dedicated to the men and women who served in the Armed Forces.”

“All that we have, we owe to those who serve,” said IU Kokomo Chancellor Michael Harris. “This monument is very vital to acknowledging that, and it is done in a beautiful and respectful manner. We carry a great debt and appreciation for those who serve, and this is a permanent, physical sight that will forever allow people to take a second to reflect and say ‘thanks.'”
