In partnership with the Office of Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Indiana, MFRI organized the first in an occasional series of science roundtables for congressional policymakers on April 17.
Held in Washington, D.C., the roundtable focused on research related to suicide within the military community as it relates to families, and was moderated by MFRI Director Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth. The event provided an opportunity for national policymakers to learn about emerging research and studies about military and veteran suicide, and its effects on families.
The session was attended by staff from the offices of 20 senators. Presenters included Dr. Patricia Lester, of UCLA, and an investigator on MFRI’s recently completed "Intergenerational Impact of War" study.
