MFRI applauds 50-state milestone

All 50 states have now adopted a military family-friendly policy that attempts to ease transitions for military children, who experience frequent moves because of their parent’s service.

The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children aims to bring consistency to a number of policies, including attendance, enrollment, graduation and extracurricular activities for military children, who move an average of three times more frequently when compared to their non-military peers, according to Military K-12 Partners.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made New York the 50th state to adopt the compact when he signed the legislation into law in August. Find out more about the details of the legislation, as well as contacts for its implementation in your state by visiting the website of the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.

MFRI applauds the milestone, and those who worked diligently in every state to create this supportive structure for military families.
