Homeless Women Veteran Symposium

The Homeless Women Veteran Symposium will be held Nov. 15 at Martin University’s Gathertorium, 2171 Avondale Place in Indianapolis from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event, coordinated by the Sister Soldier Network, is designed for homeless shelter administrators, social workers, veterans, the faith community, business and civic leaders and other interested parties to help wwwelop and implement action plans to help those who have served our country but now find themselves living on our streets, often with their children.

The event’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Irene Trowell-Harris, retired Air Force major general and the director of the Center for Women Veterans, Department of Veteran Affairs. It will also feature panel presentations from experts including Martina Sternberg, assistant director of the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue and others from the Indiana National Guard, the HVAF/Homeless Veteran Foundation, HRH/Homeless & ReEntry Helpers, Department of Veteran Affair, and the VA Medical Center, along with homeless women veterans and representatives from veteran service providers.
