About RRV

The Reaching Rural Veterans (RRV) program is a cutting-edge outreach initiative developed by the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue University*. RRV addresses the unique challenges faced by rural veterans by providing them access to the support and resources they need to thrive.

Through RRV-sponsored events, we work to connect veterans with their well-earned services and benefits, including healthcare, education and employment assistance. Through RRV events we also provide access to counseling and support for mental health and wellbeing, as well as financial assistance and resources for housing. RRV seeks to recruit teams of experienced professionals to provide resources, in tandem with familiar faces from their own locales in order to meet veterans where they are – within their communities, at their churches, at local events and more.

The host of pantry volunteers who make RRV events possible, as well as the wide variety of behavioral health clinicians, Veterans Affairs coordinators and representatives of all other local participating organizations understand that comprehensive care acts as a force multiplier on quality of life for rural veterans. Our participating organizations are committed to helping veterans and their families lead fulfilling lives in their communities.

*This program is also made possible in part by a grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which is dedicated to ensuring that impacted veterans, service members, their families, and their caregivers thrive long after they return home.
