Community Outreach

Veterans and volunteers salute the flag at a Stand Down

MFRI is committed to strengthening communities and communities of practice. Working with regional leaders, our work has helped to improve communities’ understanding of military and veteran issues.

Community impacts

MFRI has helped communities mobilize to build effective, sustainable programs that allow “communities of practice” to better serve families. We have awarded small grants to more than 40 community-based organizations. We funded more than 40 Indiana Stand Downs, and have served thousands of veterans through these events. We created a Stand Down manual so that communities and organizations across the nation can learn how to organize an impactful event. Through Battlemind to Home Mental Health Summits, we are helping communities learn about military and veteran issues.
