SUMMARY:Focus Forward Fellowship - National cohort
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM OVERVIEWTitle 2Title 3\nPROGRAM OVERVIEW\nThe Focus Forward Fellowship is a program designed to build skills\, leadership and a sense of community among female student veterans and military-connected women. \nThrough the program\, Fellows:\n– build a community of support with peers;\n– access corporate mentors to develop new career skills;\n– understand individual strengths and how to maximize those strengths;\n– identify strategies and resources to increase connections and success on campus;\n– gain confidence in problem solving; and\n– develop skills to help foster academic and career goals. \nABOUT THE PROGRAM\nThe Fellowship begins with a free\, four day residency program. Cost of travel\, food\, lodging\, activities and materials is covered by MFRI and other sponsoring institutions. All Fellows are competitively selected from a national group of applicants who: \n– hold an honorable discharge (if applicable) from the U.S. military or were a dependent of a veteran who does;\n– are sophomores\, juniors or seniors\, or pursuing a master’s degree; and\n– maintain a grade point average of 2.9 or better. \nOnce selected\, Fellows participate in preparation activities prior to the program. They then attend the weekend portion of the program. Throughout the following academic year\, Fellows will engage in an online learning community. These online activities include: \n– participate in scheduled webinar(s)\, discussion boards\, and conference calls;\n– read assigned material(s) and completing activities; and\n– interact with peers\, advocates and program staff through the online learning community. \nSUPPORTING THE PROGRAM\nMFRI is grateful for the support of Colorado State University\, which is sponsoring a June 7 cohort; it is open to military-connected women at Colorado schools. We are also grateful for the support of Got Your 6\, a sponsor of our July 26 cohort held in Indianapolis\, open to military-connected women from schools across the nation. \nIf you are interested in supporting the Focus Forward Fellowship\, or want to learn more about the Fellowship\, please contact: \nLauren Runco\nDirector\, Education and Employment\nMilitary Family Research Institute\nPurdue University\n(765) 496-6045\nlrunco@purdue.edu\n\nApplications for the 2017 Focus Forward Fellowship are now closed. I served in the United States Air Force before I was medically retired in February of 2014. The motivation for me to apply for the Focus Forward Fellowship was due to an encouraging email from my assigned vocational rehabilitation counselor who oversees my education plan. \nListen to Tabitha’s comments.\n \nTamara Jones\, Georgia State University\nI always dreamed of being a grassroots advocate of the unique plight of female veterans. When this opportunity was presented\, I felt like it was fate. Who better to progress women veterans than fellow women veterans? \nListen to Tamara’s comments.\n \nRebekah Lloyd\, Regent University\nI was interested to see how this program was going to address our unique needs. One of the most important takeaways that I had with the residential program was the one-on-one mentoring that took place; whether this happened with a woman who was there to teach a class\, lead a discussion\, or even with another Fellow. \nListen to Rebekah’s comments.

SUMMARY:Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP)
DESCRIPTION:Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) began in Indiana and is now offered in multiple states with more to come. It is a collaborative program launched through the efforts of the Indiana National Guard\, the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI)\, the Center for Deployment Psychology\, the National Guard Bureau Psychological Health Program and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. \nSBHP’s primary goal is to be a resource for service members and their families. The SBHP website serves as a vehicle to help them locate behavioral health professionals with specialized training in understanding and treating military service members and their families. SBHP provides behavioral heath providers with a series of trainings that are intended to make them better able to understand\, assess and counsel military members. Once the professionals have completed these trainings and fulfill certain other criteria\, they become eligible for listing in the SBHP database\, which service members and their families can access. Please note: The database does not replace clients responsibility to do all they can to ensure that a behavioral health provider is a good match for them and their particular situation (learn more here.) \nLearn more about the program and its benefits at the SBHP website. 2016 training dates can be found there as well. \nHow to get acquainted with the girl on the streetBy the way\, if the girl agreed to get acquainted\, you need as soon as possible to appoint her first date. It’s best to start an acquaintance with a question. This allows you to immediately draw the girl into the dialogue. Especially hookups in Austria since we are all used to questions from strangers and we are not scared when we hear them. For example\, everyone is often asked how to go somewhere\, where to find the right institution\, etc. But still\, it is better that the question was original. Recall the classics and the question\, “Where is Nofeleth? It was good
