The Military Family Research Institute strives to develop and promote learning and engagement opportunities that address the unmet needs of those who work with and serve military families in Indiana and beyond. Our programs are often specifically focused to meet the needs of working professionals or community organizations who work with military families. We work to address the needs of these populations through a set of training opportunities – which take many formats – to create a deeper understanding of the military culture and its impact on family functioning.

Our approach to learning and engagement are framed by the following principles:

• Supplement, do not supplant, existing military family support infrastructures;
• Work from our strengths as researchers;
• Wherever possible, build on existing resources instead of creating completely new ones;
• Find teachable moments in which to intervene; and,
• Strive for meaningful impact.
